Nensebo - 1

Representing the Ethiopian region West Arsi this season, let's hear it for Nensebo! Sweet, creamy and tart, like a bowl of caramel-covered blueberries and peaches, this naturally processed coffee. Is. The. Bomb. Managed by Tofik Hassenthe, the Nensebo washing station takes in cherry from 900 active farmer members growing the coffee variety JARC 74160 as their primary cash crop. Generally speaking, Ethiopian coffee varieties can be categorised into regional landraces or JARC varieties. Regional landraces are coffees that grow wild and are endemic to the Ethiopian forests, and research shows there may be over 10k of these varieties. JARC, on the other hand, are coffees developed - roughly 40 varieties - for increased pest resistance and higher yields by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre. The perfect mix between excellent farming and processing practices and coffee variety, Nensebo packs a punch of moreish delight!
