When we started thinking about this iteration of The Filter Blend, we knew we wanted a blend that offered warm, chocolate nuttiness with just enough zing and freshness to ease us into the end of summer. We love this time of year, and to turn our vision into a reality, we turned to Costa Rica and Guatemala!
A 50/50 blend, El Encino from Costa Rica generously gives all the texture and depth with its nutty, chocolate character. Translated as the "the oak" El Encino producer Rolando Esquivel and his family own the farm and the micro mill where this coffee is processed - which within itself speaks of their commitment to quality and coffee.
El Templo, a regional blend from Huehuetenango, Guatemala, brings the perfect balance and vibrancy to El Encino. Its fresh mandarin elegance and inherent hazelnut creaminess shimmer like the afternoon sun - soft, soothing, and so relaxing. Typically, El Templo consists of coffees from each significant collection point across Huehuetenango. However, this particular lot is concentrated around one or two contributing producers, with 56% from Hugo Lopez Jimenez and 36% from Tomas Gaspar Sebastian.
